Areas of Expertise
Bob Zeni has concentrated on internal communications design and development for major corporations for 23 years. He creates employer brands: Compelling, comprehensive collateral – both print and digital – that clarify mission, vision and values for culture change, recruitment and retention, training and development and diversity. His work consistently organizes information for better understanding, explains program objectives clearly and enhances employee awareness of and alignment with the company brand.

Corporate and Consulting Experience
Bob spent 10 years in commercial publishing. He was founding design director for TelevisionWeek, Advertising Age's Creativity and Crain's Chicago Business; design director of Advertising Age and managing editor for graphics for Chicago Sun-Times. Since starting his own business in 1988, Bob has focused on internal communications. He created all collateral for the Gold Card, an incentive program for McDonald’s employees. For a culture change initiative for International Truck & Engine, Bob designed an integrated communications package involving hundreds of pieces. Ragan Communications ranked Walgreens’s employee magazine, for which Bob served as designer for 10 years, as one of the top 10 employee magazines four times, including Magazine of the Year in 2007 and 2010.

Community Involvement
Bob has served on committees for IABC and as the Public Relations chair of the Chicago chapter of American Institute of Graphic Arts. In response to the 2000 election, he launched Design for Democracy, a multi-disciplinary initiative to improve the election process by applying design processes. He’s a board member of (and a key contributor to reviving) the legendary Society of Typographic Arts. For three years, he’s chaired the Archive competition – the premier series of events that recognize, celebrate and connect the Chicago design community.
